James Hawley, PT, Cert. MDT
James Hawley is a highly experienced physical therapist dedicated to helping individuals on Cape Cod achieve their functional goals and overcome musculoskeletal limitations. He graduated from Quinnipiac University in 1992 and has been a practicing physical therapist on Cape Cod since 1998.
Driven by a commitment to providing effective and evidence-based care, James earned his certification in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (Cert. MDT) from the prestigious McKenzie Institute International. This specialized training allows him to expertly assess and treat a wide range of spinal and extremity conditions through a thorough understanding of movement patterns and patient-specific management strategies.
In 2005, James's passion for patient-centered care led him to establish Function First Physical Therapy. His vision was to create a clinic that prioritizes hands-on therapy, functional exercise, and empowering patients with the tools they need for lasting recovery.
Beyond his clinical expertise, James is an avid runner and triathlete, embodying the importance of an active lifestyle. He has successfully completed six Ironman triathlons and three marathons, demonstrating his dedication, perseverance, and deep understanding of the demands placed on the human body.
When not in the clinic or training, James enjoys spending time in the natural beauty of the region. Whether walking his dog along the Cape Cod beaches or hiking in the regional mountains, his love for the outdoors fuels his personal well-being and informs his appreciation for the importance of movement and function in everyday life. His personal experiences as an athlete and outdoor enthusiast provide him with a unique perspective and empathy when working with his patients.
